Chocolate Cake ~ Part II

Due to popular demand, I’ve been given the go ahead to share the recipe from my previous post, Chocolate Cake! Trust me when I say this is a must  try!! Seriously. And quite honestly, this recipe is too easy and over-the-top delicious, not to try! Go thru your cupboards and throw away any boxed chocolate cake mixes you have on hand because after trying this recipe, there is no going back! 😉

Chocolate Cake with fresh whipped cream & berries!

Chocolate Cake

1/2 cup cocoa
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
2 cup white sugar

Mix the above ingredients in a mixing bowl.  Set aside.

In a bowl mix together:

1 cup buttermilk or sour milk (milk combined with vinegar)
2 eggs, large (always room temp)
2 tsp
vanilla
1/2 cup canola or veg oil

1 cup hot water (in a separate
cup)

Make a hollow in the dry ingredients, then add the wet mix and hot water. Mix only until blended.

Put into prepared pans. Bake in a 350 oven. Time depends on the pan size. I bake for about 25-30 min for 2 8″ cake pans & less for cupcakes. Check at about 15-18 minutes. When done, a tiny bit of crumb should adhere to the toothpick

ENJOY!!! I know you will! 🙂

    • I’ve had trouble with homemade cake recipes in the past being too dry – this one is far from it! It’s moist and spongy! A must try!! And I agree, I don’t think there is such a thing as too much chocolate! 🙂
